FAQ:🍜 Normal Questions 🍜
Q: Can we be friends, mutuals, art moots, etc.?A: Of course! Reach out to me on my socials and I'll get back to you somewhat quickly! I'm not exactly an unapproachable person, despite my big following size. I'm friendly, soupy even!
Q: How soupy are you?A: Extraordinarily soupy!!
Q: What's your sexuality?A: Idk. Definitely not straight tho. No label suits me, but I also prefer not being tied to labels. Too restricting. Let's go with queer or LGBTQ+. Just try and see. Maybe something will happen!
Q: Do you use generative AI in any of your works?A: Absolutely not. I have a zero-tolerance policy against ANY sort of genAI usage. I don't care if you're only using it to generate references and ideas, write small projects, assist in tool making, using it as a search engine, etc. I don't care if I'd be an idiot to not use AI since "basically everyone uses AI now lol" and if I don't then I'll "get left behind".Don't get me wrong, I love technological advancements. I just don't like "advancements" that make humans dumbasses tho. I don't like technology that steals our art and uses it against us artists just so some lazy guy can feel like they're better than us and don't need us anymore. So if you're found to be using AI, even if it's as little as writing documentation for you or whatever, I WILL block you immediately and warn people about you. This is NOT a safe space for AIbros.
Q: Soup, you're an artist and GameMaker programmer! I'd love to get some tips from you!A: You can! I'm always open to share my knowledge with fellow artists and programmers, just ask. ^^
Q: Do you participate in art trades?A: I do! Message me about it! Commissions take priority, so please don't be upset if I take awhile to send my part of the trade.
Q: We would love for you to work for our indie project! But... We can't pay you rn. Could we do a deal where we pay you once our indie game comes out or something? Until then, you'd be doing passion work!A: Not sure why you bothered asking then. How would I know for sure your game will be finished? How would I know for sure that you'd be holding up your end of the deal? You'd be asking me to put in a LOT of trust and effort for some random indie game with no budget. That sounds like a huge red flag to me. Come back when you can properly pay for my services, sorry.
🍜 Fandom-related Questions 🍜
Q: Wow Soup, you're in so many cool fan projects! Could you join mine?A: Most likely! But I won't join just any fangame team.Firstly, I will NOT join any Undertale/ Deltarune fan projects where the Sans role and/ or Papyrus role take center stage, meaning they are more important than anyone else. This also applies to projects that are "not just Sans and Papyrus!", where they shoehorn other characters in the mix, only to kill them off quickly just to put Sans and Papyrus right back on the spotlight. I specify "Sans role" and "Papyrus role" because there are variations of AUs where a similar character takes their place and basically act just like them(Chara Storyshift, Undertoad Mario, Asgore Storyspin, etc.). I, simply, just don't want to join a team of a project I wouldn't be that invested in.Secondly, I will NOT join projects relating to creepypastas akin to Sonic.exe. I don't care for Sonic.exe(or its many retakes) or projects inspired by it. It was a cringe fanfic made decades ago by a pedo and I will not support it or be a part of its community. No, I don't care if it got "reclaimed" and is under new ownership or whatever. That does not erase what happened, nor does it make it okay now, in my opinion. If you want to make a dark/ horror Sonic story, just make a dark Sonic story. You don't need EXEs to do that for you...
Those are the two big things I'll check for when considering joining a project.Other things that may negatively affect your chances of me joining, but are not complete dealbreakers, are personality swap Underswap takes, SoundCloud Undertale AUs, AU takes(unless you're offering something unique than other takes), and more that could be discussed. As long as you're offering something original, like a full-fledged UT fangame, an OC battle, non-horror Sonic fangame, etc., then you have the highest possibility of me joining your project!
Q: Soup, how come you hate Sans and Papyrus so much?
A: I don't hate Sans and Papyrus as characters. In fact, they're pretty cool characters and I can see why they're popular! But due to their popularity, they've spawned a rather batshit insane and vocal community. I can't even make ragebait jokes without Sans fans being mad(which is the point of ragebait, but whatever). It's insane!Personally, I find things like Dusttale Aus, Sans fights, Genocide Papyrus AUs, etc. to be overcrowding the fan project scene, sometimes even overshadowing projects with a bit more substance than yet another difficult short battle. There's just a lot of content slop and I'm, frankly, burnt out from seeing them and I'd rather not contribute to that space. I don't care if they're popular or have the most potential. That don't mean anything.I do acknowledge that there are some cool Sans and Papyrus oriented projects(Undershuffle, Skelestar/ Shadowfell Saga, J-Bug's Sans video, etc.) and those are cool. It's not impossible to make Sans and Papyrus centric AUs. It's just that most of the fangames aren't that interesting or creative to me.If you can't respect my preference for not wanting to draw or interact with the two popular characters, then I'm not even sure why you're following me or care about what I think. I'm not the fangame police and at the end of the day, you can do whatever you want. It's all for fun and you really shouldn't care about what I think.
Q: Any progress updates on your projects? Demos?A: Progress updates and demos will come out when there's worthy content to be shown. Please do not beg me or friend me just to ask about demos. That's annoying.
Q: Are you a furry? We can't hang if you are!A: I am not. I just like having an adorable animal sona! Turns out, animals are funny silly creatures! Respect to my furry friends tho. 💪
Q: Hey! Saw you on a callout post and you were being a dick! Or hey I have a problem with something that you're doing and I wanted to talk to you about it. What do I do?A: Do not do the typical immature Twitter user thing and make a callout post on me, especially if it's over meaningless little things like a joke post, ragebait, or a silly mean comment. That accomplishes nothing but fuels drama and childish gang behavior. Instead, be an adult and just message me about it. You always want to get both sides of a story before immediately getting mad at something that was probably just a misunderstanding. Especially in the world of AI, you really don't want to be believing in everything you see online.
Q: When you're making Undertale/ Deltarune sprites, your usual sprite style, quality wise, is noticeably different than what both games offer, and yet you do commissions for what's essentially the "Soup Taels Top-Down RPG" style. What gives dude? Isn't that like...false advertising? Ready the pitchforks??A: ... No. Calling it "false advertising" is terrible wording at best, disingenuous at worst. You have to consider a few things:1. I will add my own touches to the sprites I make and my sprites will never be 100% """Tobycore""", obviously. I'm not Toby Fox or his team. If clients want less soupiness in their sprites, then they may request for that. If they want even more details in their sprites, they can ask too.2. Both Undertale and Deltarune have wildly inconsistent sprite styles. Deltarune got a whole team now, so the inconsistencies are even more apparent. Some of the inconsistencies are intentional, most aren't tho. There's no one strict ruleset for the UTDR sprite style, but we can make things fit well enough and be happy with that! My sprites are regularly tested in various UT/ DR screenshots and mockups.
Clients have control over how they want their sprites before settling on a price, during the process and as I'm showing them progress updates, and 24 hours after the commission is done. Do NOT call it "false advertising" when you don't know half the process.
Critique/ advice is always welcomed tho!
